What is FOFA?

About FOFA:

Friends of Fine Arts (FOFA) is a volunteer organization of parents, educators, and community members supporting and promoting the Fine Arts at Downers Grove South High School through gifts and service originally established in the fall of 1964.  FOFA supports:

Music and Performing Arts including band, choir, orchestra, speech and theater,

Visual Arts including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, film making and architecture.

Because of the generous contributions of the many volunteers and financial supporters, FOFA is dedicated to achieving these goals:

  • Providing private lesson scholarships and summer grants to every student we can to increase access for all.
  • Enlightening classroom experiences through guest clinicians, entrepreneurs, and conductors.
  • Purchasing equipment for Fine Arts instruction that extends beyond the district's financial obligation.
  • Supporting Fine Arts events with publicity, volunteers, hospitality and amenities.
  • Facilitating communication of Fine Arts activities and student achievement in the arts to DGS FOFA membership and to the broader artistic community.
